Medals of Pennsylvania Barge Club Members
This is a photo of the front and back of a collection of rowing medals won by Pennsylvania Barge oarsmen. These medals were photographed at a jewelry store in New Jersey in 2024. Officers of the Pennsylvania attempted, unsuccessfully, to purchase these objects for the Club's collection; they are now owned by an unknown party, but they depict a series of victories and events that are important in the Club's history: 1. Schuylkill Navy Rowing Commodore's Review, August 18, 1954, Awarded to Earl Baltz for Meritorious Work; 2. Peoples Regatta, July 4, 1887, Senior Single, Frank R. Baltz, PBC; 3. Middle States Regatta Association, Senior Double Scull, July 14, 1894, Passaic River, NJ, Frank R. Baltz, Phila, PA; 4. Schuylkill Navy Regatta, Frank R. Baltz, Penna B.C.; 5. Two medals for the Varsity Double Sculls Event at the High School National Championship Regatta in 1954. The winners of this race are currently unknown, but they may be members of the Baltz family.
